Last night, my girlfriend told me I should invent a cocktail called the “Make Me a Sandwich, Bitch.”
Naturally, it’s the sort of thing that could only be mixed by male bartenders, and I assume it could only be ordered by women, due to the name and the politics behind using the term. But I have no idea what would go into a “Make Me a Sandwich, Bitch.”
The Gilt Club in Portland has a B.L.T. cocktail, which is incredible. Roma tomato-infused vodka, lemon olive oil, fresh lemon, and basil, rimmed with bacon salt. It’s fresh and cool and oily and smoky, all at the same time, and somehow, against all odds, it works. If I’m aiming to make a sandwich-themed cocktail, I think it provides clues as to where to start.
Fresh and savory. Sounds like I’m using either vodka or gin. Good first step.
Anyone have any ideas on what should go into this cocktail?
